When asked about animation, James Baxter, head of character animation on The Croods, said “Working as an animator is very much like being a performer, just in slow motion. We deal with the director just like a live action actor would.  We talk about the scene and what we’re going to do, but instead of just getting in front of the camera and doing it, we go away for a few days, do it then bring it back.” As for his inspiration for animating his characters, he said “Just like an actor would, I observe the world around me. My favorite part of Comic-Con is watching all of you.  I’m fascinated by the way people behave, and especially the way that they move.”
